OHSHIO SHRINE

OHSHIO SHRINE

Ohshio Shrine's Autumn Festival is held on the 14th and 15th of October. The shrine is in the city of Himeji, but some
Takasago citizens participate in the festival as "ujiko" who are the people belonging to the shrine community deity.
The festival is famous for the parade and dancing of portable shrines people carry.
And the performing of Kejishi dance, a Prefectural Important Intangible Cultural Assets, is something to see.
Kejishi which is a fancy creature from a lion, has bear fur all over. It stretches itself high with its head up and walks into the front garden of the shrine. This is called Dochu Dance. It also performs great dances to the music made by the traditional drums, the flute and the musical accompaniment.
