MUKOJIMA PARK TAKASAGO SEASIDE PARK

MUKOJIMA PARK& TAKASAGO SEASIDE PARK

There used to be many beaches of scenic beauty. People used to gather shellfish and go bathing. However because of the land reclamation from the sea, fever places to enjoy such recreation remain.
To restore the city's white sandy beaches and green pine trees, Hyogo Prefectural Takasago Seaside Park was established through the planting of pine trees and the creation of an artificial beach. It took seven years. This park is 60,000 square meters in area, consisting of a pine tree zone with about one thousand trees, an artificial island called Takasago-jima, and a sandy beach. At the entrance a stone, on which the park's name is engraved, welcomes visitors. It reminds us of "Uki-Ishi" in Oshiko Shrine. There are huge monuments located in the stone square and the island zone is paved with stone from the Hoden quarry. You can see the sea of Harima from here.
This park has a seventy-year-old pine grove. It is a good place for taking a stroll, bathing and fishing. On the 4th Sunday of July, Takasago Seaside Park is filled with more than 20,000 people watching the fireworks.
