KUROIWA 13BUDDHAS MT.HIKASA

KUROIWA 13BUDDHAS & MT.HIKASA

You can see Kuroiwa no Magaibutsu along national road No.250, at the foot of Mt. Hikasa. Magaibutsu is the image of 13 Buddhas, carved in relief on the side of a rock cliff there. It was carved around the middle of the Muromachi era.
The origin of the 13 Buddhas is based on Japanese folk religion related to memorial services for the dead. This area is located in Mt. Hikasa Park..
Near the park's entrance is the starting point of a hiking path, which leads from Mt. Hikasa to Mt. Takamikura. In spring you can enjoy viewing cherry blossoms there.
